Location Of Service A Mass of Christian Burial - 11:00 am, Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at St Gabriel Catholic Church May 29, 1948 - July 28, 2012 Cathy Druckenbrod, a resident of Charlotte, NC, died Saturday, July 28, 2012 at home surrounded by her loving family. Cathy was born on May 29, 1948 in Cleveland, Ohio. She was the daughter of James and Rita Bourke. She grew up in Shaker Heights, Ohio and graduated from Sacred Heart College in Belmont, NC in 1968. She married her high school sweetheart, the love of her life, Tom in 1971. Cathy’s greatest joy was her family. She was a woman of faith and an active member of her church, St. Gabriel, where she served as a Preschool Teacher and a Eucharistic Minister to the Sick. Above all else she cherished her role as a wife and mother to her precious children, TJ and Kevin, their wives, Lisa and Molly and grandchildren, Katie and Ellie. Cathy was an avid exerciser and annually participated in the Cupid’s Cup benefit walk associated with the CMC Cardiac Rehab center. Cathy faced numerous challenges with dignity and grace up to and including her final journey with cancer. She had an internal strength that inspired all of those who came in contact with her. Cathy’s faith, courage, and determination will continue to be a shining example to all those who knew and loved her. Not only will she be remembered for her beautiful smile and sparkly blue eyes, but her greatest legacy will be the abundant life she lived with the knowledge that “every day is a gift”. Cathy is survived by her devoted and loving family, husband of 40 years, Tom; Children, TJ, and Kevin; cherished daughter-in-laws, Lisa and Molly; beloved grandchildren, Katie and Ellie; brother, Rory, sisters, Shannon and Mary; and many nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 3016 Providence Road, Charlotte by The Reverend Monsignor Richard Bellow, Celebrant and The Reverend Frank O’Rourke, Concelebrant. A Prayer Service will be held at 6:30 P.M. Tuesday evening, July 31, at 6:30 P.M. with visitation following until 9:00 P.M. |
