Obituary for Helen Dianne Mitzel

Helen Dianne Dorton Mitzel, 74, of Charlotte, peacefully went home to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on Wed, June 28 with her daughter by her side. She was the epitome of the definition for mom & devoted grandmother.
Dianne was the heart of her family and treasured every moment spent together. She was a remarkable courageous woman and a two time breast cancer survivor. She treasured her friendships and was highly regarded for her wonderful sense of humor, quick wit and generosity. She was a native Charlottean and a lifetime member of FBC Charlotte. Dianne loved sewing as well as quilting and made hundreds of pillowcases for the Levine Children’s Hospital. She was affectionately known for making countless baby quilts and diaper bags for family and friends.
Loved ones to greet her in heaven were her parents, Helen and Jim Dorton; husband John P Mitzel and son John Christopher Frye. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Angela Mundy (Tom) of Charlotte; Sister, Angie Hicks (Jack) of Elk Park, NC; grandson, Harrison Frye of Monroe; Lara Taylor (Brannen) of Monroe; many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family as well as a lifetime of loving friends.
There will be a graveside service at Sharon Memorial on Fri, 6/30 at 10a. The family would like to thank Hospice for their care in our journey. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Levine Children’s Hospital or please bestow a random act of kindness in her name.
