Obituary for Lt Col Bruce W Driscoll

Lt. Col. Bruce Willie Driscoll, Ret. USMC, 84, of Charlotte, NC went to be with our Lord at 3am Mon, April 23, 2018. He leaves a path marked by Service, Honor, Love & Commitment.
May 31, 1933, born in Johnson, VT to Carl E. & Muriel Norway Driscoll & graduated from Peoples Academy, Morrisville, Vt.
Bruce helped care for his younger siblings, & worked at a local farm. Enlisting in the Army at a young age, he soon joined the Marines. In 1951 he enlisted in the Vermont National Guard; thus, beginning a military career of 29 years in the Army, Navy, & Marine Corps. As a helicopter & multi-engine Pilot during the Vietnam War, he transported officers to various sites in the Republic of Vietnam. He retired with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel & following his retirement Bruce worked for 24 more years as a principal analyst on Joint doctrines, policies, and doctrines for the Dept. of Defense. He received many medals during his service to his country and among them were the National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Medal, Meritorious Service Medal and Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry.
Survived by his beloved wife Ruth C Driscoll of Houma, LA; children: Donna Focht (Jerry), Bruce Jr (Judy), & Byron Driscoll (Anita); granddaughters: Alexandra & Julianna Focht, Ava & Grace Driscoll; & siblings: Carl Driscoll, Dorothy Bliss (Larry), & Bette Kirk (Bob).
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 3, from 6-8pm at J.B. Tallent Funeral Service, 1937 Sharon Amity Rd.
Funeral with Military Procession will be held at 1pm Friday, May 4 at St Gabriel Catholic Church, 3016 Providence Rd. Military Ceremony & Burial at Arlington National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Donations may be made to the Levine Cancer Institute (Carolinas HealthCare Foundation) at www.GiveCarolinas.Org/C4CC
