Obituary for Nathan Craig Dacus

Nathan “Craig” Dacus, 61, died at his home in Charlotte and was found on Monday, September 18, 2017. Craig had been a Charlotte resident for over 40 years.
He graduated high school from Woodlawn High School in Baltimore Maryland. He then had a long career at United Parcel Service as a driver and then supervisor.
Craig had a very loving heart for animals and although his love was really for dogs, dachshunds in particular, he began rescuing cats, which he provided very good care for and loved dearly. Craig was also a talented musician and enjoyed playing the piano and writing music. He was an avid reader.
Craig is predeceased by his parents, Avery and Sarah Dacus, his sister, Linda Dacus McCoy, and his brother, Avery Dacus, Jr. He is survived by his youngest sister, Elizabeth Dacus Slane, her husband, Paul Slane, and his nieces Sarah Keady, Amy McCoy, and Amelia Slane. He is also survived by his great nephew Frank McCoy, great niece Olivia Keady, and great great nephew, Jackson McCoy.
There will not be a service but rather Craig’s wishes to have his ashes spread on his grandfather’s farm will be granted in the near future. In lieu of flowers please make contributions to ASPCA, American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, in Craig’s memory.
