Obituary for Pamela Fridinger Braswell

Mom said, "The church has shown me the way and I am ready to go." She died peacefully surrounded by her loving family. Her dad graduated from Georgetown University and worked for Standard Mobile Oil in Bombay, India. Mom was born to Norman and Violet Fridinger on January 5, 1933 in Bombay. She had an incredible life that included world travels to Pompeii by ship, elephant rides through nature preserves in India and camel rides to the Pyramids in Egypt. She met dad in Washington D.C. They married and Dad attended The University of Florida on the GI bill. Mom always sacrificed everything for her children, always providing what was needed, never missing Sandy's horse shows or the sporting events of her sons. Mom enjoyed taking her children to Lido Beach in Sarasota, Florida and Lake Norman when they moved back to Charlotte. Mom was a progressive woman who taught her children by example. She volunteered to be a den mother for cub scout troops in the 1960's to children living in impoverished areas of Charlotte. She also voiced later in life tolerance and acceptance for all of God's children. Her fondest memories of her grandchildren were in Garden City, S.C., taking them to Europe, and Anna Maria Island, Florida. Mom was our rock, our role model, and our lifeline. She will be unimaginably missed by her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her sons, Billy Braswell, Scott Braswell, (Rita), daughter Sandy Ibach, (John), and grandchildren, Scotty Braswell, (Erin), Matthew Braswell, Gillian Ibach, Pender Ibach, and her sister, Jill Brown. She was preceded in death by her husband Bill Braswell. We will be celebrating Mom's life at a Memorial Service Wednesday June 27 at Avondale Presbyterian Church at 2:00 p.m., 2821 Park Rd. Please consider wearing tropical colors to honor Mom! We would like to thank Dr. Emmett Steward and Harris Hospice of Novant Presbyterian and Dr. Matthew Braswell, resident physician at CMC. Please consider Harris Hospice at Novant as a charity.
