Mrs. Chappelear, 88, entered into eternal life Sunday, June 28, 2009, at Hospice and Community Care in Rock, SC.
Born March 2, 1921, in Horry County, South Carolina, she was the child of William Henry and Althalia O. James. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Ethel Jacobs and Catherine Sellers. Surviving in addition to her husband, ‘Chap’ Chappelear, Jr. are sisters, Evelyn Fowler and husband, Frank, of Little River Neck, SC; Mae Bell Pridgen and husband, Lacy, of Cheraw, SC.
She married Claude (Chap) Chappelear, Jr. on March 20 , 1948; they were married for 61 wonderful years. She was a graduate of Griffin Beauty School in Bennettsville, SC and also worked for twenty years at DelMar Studios in Charlotte, NC. After retirement Nina enjoyed developing her substantial artistic gifts through painting. She was a member of the Albemarle Road Presbyterian Church where she taught children’s Sunday School for more than twenty years.
Nina’s life was truly something beautiful for God as she lived continually focused on how she could help others. She was greatly loved by all who knew her.
There will be a service from the graveside at St. David’s Cemetery in Cheraw, SC on Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at 11:00 AM. A service of Witness to the Resurrection and celebration of Nina’s life will be held at Albemarle Road Presbyterian Church, Charlotte, on Thursday, July 2, 2009 at 11:00 AM with pastor, Dr. Ron G. Tippens officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
In lieu of flowers, Nina’s life can be honored by memorial gifts to Albemarle Road Presbyterian Church, PO Box 25903, Charlotte, NC 28229.
