Martha Heslop, 83, of The Laurels, Charlotte, NC, formerly of Cape Cod, MA, died Monday, February 16, 2009, at the Harris Hospice Unit of Presbyterian Hospital, Charlotte, NC. She was born September 17, 1925, in Martins Ferry, Ohio, to William H. Yingling and Edna Latimer Yingling.
Surviving are three daughters, Deborah Brannen (Tim), Charlotte, NC., Melissa Mignin, Midland, MI, and Holly Joseph (Mark), Charlottesville, VA; one grandson, Christopher Brannen, six granddaughters, Jessica Tischer, Katie Janni, Emily Huna, Jillian Joseph, Jenna Joseph, and Sarah Mignin; two great granddaughters, Lillian Huna and Greyson Tischer; one special "sister", Mary Louise Yingling; two sisters-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Harold W. Heslop, and siblings, Clement Yingling, June Thorburn, and Dr. Robert Yingling.
Martha attended West Virginia University where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. She was a loving wife and mother, a very private person whose passions were playing bridge, reading, living on "The Cape”, and cheering for the New England Patriots.
Her daughters extend their thanks and appreciation to the doctors, nurses, and aids at Presbyterian Hospital's Cardiac Unit, Harris Hospice Unit, and to the staff at The Laurels in Highland Creek for her care. Persuant to their mother's request, a private service took place at the Harris Hospice Chapel on the day she was taken home to be with her Lord. The family requests no flowers be sent. |
