Ms. Hill, 83, of Charlotte, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ April 30, 2010. Lula or “Lu”, as most knew her, was born November 25, 1926 to the late Cecil Homer Deese, Sr. and Daisy Vanderburg Deese.
Ms. Hill attended Villa Heights Elementary, graduated from Tech High and later attended CPCC earning her nursing degree in 1963. Ms. Hill was a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church from 1959 until her death. She was past Matron of the Charlotte Chapter 294 Order of Eastern Star, member of the Carolina Court #10 Order of the Armaranth, and past Worthy High Priestess of Areme Shrine #3.
Ms. Hill was preceded in death by two sisters, Willie Cline and Glendred Griffin and by her only brother, Cecil Homer Deese, Jr. all of Charlotte.
Survivors include her sons, Chuck Hill and wife Phyllis of Marvin, NC; David Hill and wife Shelby of Mint Hill; Chris Hill and wife Lori of Concord; one sister, Flora Honeycutt of Lumberton, NC; grandsons, Brian, Christopher, Jonathan, Joshua and great grandson, Jacob Alan.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Hospice and Palliative Care, Charlotte Region, 1420 East Seventh Street, Charlotte, 28204.
We would like to thank the staffs of White Oak Manor and Hospice and Palliative Care for our mother’s care and comfort.
A memorial service will be held in the chapel of J. B. Tallent Funeral Service, 1937 N. Sharon Amity Road on Thursday, May 6, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. with The Reverend William F. Burns, Chaplin for The Charlotte Fire Department, officiating.
The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the memorial service at the funeral home.
