Obituaries

On Thursday April 8, Brenda gave up her pain and suffering to be at peace with the Lord.  She was married for nearly 33 years to Greg and had 2 sons, Matthew & Jonathan.  She recently was blessed to add Matt’s wife Ashley to the family.  She is the daughter of Warren and Betty Privette of Matthews and is remembered by her brother Warren, JR, sister Rita & Butch Dilling, and sister Amy Privette.

Brenda originally was born and raised in Matthews, NC, graduated from East Mecklenburg High School. After getting her degree in teaching, taught school in Stanly, NC for 9 years.  After getting married in 1977, she moved to Birmingham, AL where she taught school in Oak Grove, AL for 5 years.  She continued her education work at Presbyterian Hospital for 12 years. She remained very active in the community both teaching and training others in CPR & First Aid.

She had a very deep love of animals, especially of her Golden Retrievers.  The past few years she had been unable to be outside with her dogs and became the loving keeper of 3 Rag Doll cats. She was never one to not open her heart and make sure that all people and animals were treated with respect and dignity.  She never refused a stray or wandering animal a home for as long as they wanted to stay and was a supporter of the Golden Retriever Rescue Club of Charlotte.  We are asking that in lieu of flowers a donation be made to Golden Retriever Rescue Club of Charlotte in her name.  Please mail any donations to: GRRCC P.O. A viewing will be held on Monday April 12 at JB Tallent Funeral Home 1937 Sharon Amity Road Charlotte, NC 28205 from 5 PM until 7 pm.  The funeral service will be Tuesday April 13 at 10:00AM  in the chapel of the funeral home.  Her final resting place will be at Pleasant Plains Baptist Church Cemetery.

She will always be the one who leads the way and keeps all around her safe. And so she went beyond the horizon, into the country of the dawn.
