On May 16, after a twelve year courageous battle against Alzheimer’s disease, Jerry left this life to be with her parents, brothers, sisters and others she loved who are in Heaven. Jerry was born in 1921 and raised in Duquesne, PA, one of 9 children of the late John and Anna Chobirko. She enjoyed large family gatherings during her years living in McKeesport, Pa. She and her family moved to Charlotte in 1969 and Jerry became a regular member of Christ Lutheran Church.
Jerry is survived by her devoted husband of 61 years, Raymond Lindberg; her two children, Sandra Harris of Charlotte, Raymond Lindberg Jr. and his wife, Joy of Greensboro, grandchildren Alexis Williams and husband Russell of Pineville, Kristen Stark and husband Rob, Richard Harris Jr. all of Charlotte, Russell and Brian Lindberg of Greensboro.
Jerry’s greatest pleasure in life came from spending time with her husband, her children and her grandchildren. She was a loving wife and mother who gave all of her time and attention to taking care of her family. Until Alzheimer’s took her personality away, she enjoyed her church, shopping, handcrafts and friends. She was a beautiful woman with a good soul and a loving, strong heart.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Monday, May 18 at J.B. Tallent Funeral Service, 1937 Sharon Amity Road. The funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 19 at Christ Lutheran Church, 4545 Providence Road, Charlotte. After a reception at the church Forum, Entombment will be at Forest Lawn West Mausoleum, 4601 Freedom Drive, Charlotte.
Memorials may be made in Jerry’s memory to either Christ Lutheran Church; Presbyterian Hospice and Palliative Care, P.O Box 33549, Charlotte, NC 28233, or to Alzheimer's Association National Office 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
Richard Harris, Jr., Russell Lindberg, Brian Lindberg, Robert Stark and Russell Williams will serve as her pallbearers.
