Mrs. Cecile Rose, 95, of Charlotte passed away May 13, 2010 after a brief illness. She was born on April 16, 1915, to Sarah and Isaac Greenblat of Jersey City, New Jersey.
She married Bernard Rose in 1945 and moved to Fayetteville, NC, and then to Charlotte in 1955. She was a long-time volunteer with Hadassah and Charlotte Orthopedic Hospital. An avid bridge player, she attained her Silver Life Master status and played duplicate bridge competitively. She enjoyed swimming, cooking, reading and entertaining friends and family.
Mrs. Rose is predeceased by her husband, Bernard Rose who died in 1982, her five brothers and four sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Rose Hockfield and husband Steven of Charlotte; her son, Nathan Rose and wife Carolyn of Mount Holly, NC; granddaughters Rebecca Hockfield of Washington, DC, and Rachel Hockfield Henschel and her husband Matthew of Cambridge, MA.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, May 14, 2010 at Temple Israel, and burial will follow at the Hebrew Cemetery.
