Mr. Standafer, of Charlotte, passed away on June 10, 2010, at Hospice of Union County. A Charlotte resident for many years, he was born December 18, 1923, in Nicholasville, Kentucky. Cork was the son of the late Leonard and Nellie Standafer of Hamilton, Ohio. He was a graduate of Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, where he as a member of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. He was a World War II Army veteran having served in the South Pacific. Cork sold printing machinery for many years for Miller and Harris-Seybold.
Cork is survived by his wife of 63 years, Georgiana Beames Standafer; daughter, Stephanie Carlson and husband Ed; son, Bruce H. Standafer and wife, Carol; grandson, Daniel Carlson; and granddaughter, Chase Carlson.
The family will receive friends at a reception to be held from 5:00 until 6:30 on Friday, June 18, 2010 at J B Tallent Funeral Service, 1937 N. Sharon Amity Road, Charlotte, NC
A memorial service will be private.
