He served in the Army in post WWII Europe in the 1950’s. After finishing active duty, he enrolled and played football at Texas A&M University, but transferred to Cornell University, where he earned a B.S. in the prestigious Hotel and Restaurant Management School. His career in food service took him many places such as Ithaca, NY; Charlottesville, VA; Durham, NC; Boca Raton, FL; Charlotte, NC; Dallas, TX; and back to Charlotte, where he enjoyed many years of retirement.
Hugh was the best of fathers, grandpas and husbands. Always their to lend a hand and make sure all were taken care of, he enjoyed hanging out with family, cooking, watching the Food Network, gardening and yard work, traveling via cruise, dining out, and spending time on the computer enlightening family and friends with his jokes.

Hugh’s family would like to thank the tremendous nursing and medical staff at Asbury Care Center in Charlotte for their wonderful ability to comfort not only Hugh; but also the family during this difficult time. |
