|
MAY 27, 1920 ~~ MARCH 29, 2010 |
|
Born in Berkshire, England, Dennis was raised by his adoptive mother Mrs. Loader and her son Alan in the village of Yattenton, England. As a young man, Dennis worked various jobs but came to love animals and was proud to work as a groomer for show dogs. He also developed a passion for working with his hands in woodworking, mechanics, and motorcycles. During the war he was an electrical engineer with the RAF stationed in Italy and North Africa where he was awarded the Italian Star. Shortly after the war he immigrated to Toronto, Ontario, Canada. A new adventure began when Dennis and his two lifelong friends, Denny Manwaring and Bill Rutter, drove across Canada to British Columbia. Upon arriving in Vancouver, he resumed his passion of motorcycles and cars, working for Trevor Deeley at Deeley Motors. It was at Deeley Motors where he met his future wife and soul mate, Muriel Eileen.
Living in the Vancouver area, he became one of the founding members of the British Columbia Sports Car Club. Dennis worked for Western Canada Steel, Tree Island Steel and Abbotsford Brick and Tile, before immigrating to Charlotte, North Carolina in 1973 to work for Florida Steel as their maintenance superintendent.
Dennis was a member of Providence Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years Eileen and is survived by his son, Dr. Alan M. Tebby.
A memorial service will be held at on Thursday April 1st at 11:00 AM at Providence Baptist Church, Gordon Weekly Chapel, 4921 Randolph Rd. , Charlotte, NC 28211. Friends will be received following the service.
