Obituary for Vivian Barrow Kyd

Vivian Barrow Kyd, 94 passed away January 23, 2018 at her home in Charlotte, NC with her husband of 70 years by her side.
Born June 23, 1923, the eldest of 3 daughters, to George Clifford and Ruth Hairfield Barrow of Draper, NC.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Vivian Irene Kyd, sisters; Mildred Andrews, and Kathleen Hopkins.
You raised five fierce, funny and magically messed up women. It was like the Partridge Family…except R-rated, with tone deaf singing and lots of estrogen. So really, nothing like the show.
You were the matriarch of our family. Because of you we grew up with laughter, love and loud mouths. We learned about honesty and integrity and the importance of silliness.
We witnessed a real-life love story.
You were home to all of us and our family's compass.
You were the pinch'er of chub
The maker of goodies
The teller of harsh truths –“Well, now we know why you’re not married”
The wrangler of unruly hair
The queen of the cardigan and shorts combo
Future AARP spokesperson for “Happy Pills”
Stylist of an immaculate silver coif
The best cackler this side of the Mississippi
The vixen of visors
The reason we all have awesome legs
The most glamorous woman we know
We love you Grandma

She is survived by her husband Thad Hollenbeck Kyd, daughters; Margaret Frucht(Jerry) Lisa Frucht(Barry) Cathy Stroud(Steve) and Linda Kyd. Her grandchildren Becca, Jessica, Joshua(Venetia) Michael Frucht, Caroline and Steven Jacob Stroud. Great-grandchildren Jayden, Jason and Jayda.
Many, many thanks to Dr. Amanda Graham and the Novant Hospice Team for all their support.
