Obituary for Marilyn Bulucon Brendle

Marilyn was born in Toronto, Canada to George Bulucon and Helen Scopis Bulucon. At 18, after high school graduation, she moved to Charlotte, North Carolina to attend King’s College. She met the love of her life, Robert Edward Brendle (better known to all that loved him as Meatball), while attending college. On April 6, 1960, she dumped her books into the trash and they eloped to South Carolina and they never looked back. Their son, Byron George Brendle followed a year later. Marilyn, Meatball, and Byron moved back to Toronto in the summer of 1961. Their daughter Chrisanne Brendle (Stone) was born soon after. The family moved back to Charlotte in 1967. After years as a stay at home mom, Marilyn went to work at United Carolina Bank as a teller. She quickly moved up in the ranks and became the assistant manager at the Providence Road branch. She left UCB after a few years and opened her own business, 4 Gals, with three other women. In 1987, she and Byron branched out on their own and started Premier Packaging where she worked until she retired. The biggest joy in Marilyn’s life was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Marilyn leaves behind her son Byron, her daughter and her son-in-law, Chrisanne and David, and four very loved grandchildren, Taylor Anne, Daniel, Robert and Isabella. As well as two sisters, a brother and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. She is predeceased by her loving husband Robert “Meatball” Brendle. The family would like to thank Nurse Lisa and Lesley at Hospice & Palliative Care and the entire staff at The Regency Retirement Village for their special attention to Marilyn in her final days.
Marilyn was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2012. It was a long and painful struggle for her and her family. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please make a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.act.alz.org) or Hospice & Palliative Care (www.hpccr.org) in Marilyn’s name. A private grave side service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery on Central Ave.
